NCCC surges past Lakeland CC

Niagara County Community College overcame a slow start to earn a 74-61 non-conference road victory at Lakeland Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Thunderwolves (17-0), who are ranked No. 20 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, shot nearly 50 percent on their way to 45 second-half points.

Freshman guard Paige Emborsky led NCCC with 16 points and five rebounds. Sophomore guard Shilah Parker added 15 points, six boards and four blocks, sophomore wing Kenetria Redfern had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, sophomore point guard Cori Dickson chipped in with 11 points and eight assists and freshman forward Molly Mahony contributed nine points and seven boards off the bench.

Next up for NCCC is a road date with Region III foe Herkimer College. Tip is set for 4 p.m. Saturday.
