NCCC earns two tough wins at Classic

Niagara County Community College closed out the first semester with a pair of quality wins against NJCAA Div. II foes at the annual Thunderwolves Classic this past weekend. The T-Wolves, who improved to 16-0, are off until 1 p.m. Jan. 5 at Lakeland Community College.

Niagara CCC 91, Henry Ford College 72

Freshman forward Aubrey Halloran had a career-high 22 points as the Thunderwolves pulled away after halftime. She added 11 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks in the win. Classmate Paige Emborsky netted 18 points despite battling foul trouble throughout and fellow first-year player Molly Mahony contributed 14 points and six boards off the bench. Also for NCCC, sophomore Cori Dickson had 13 points, 10 assists and four steals, sophomore Shilah Parker finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists and sophomore Kenetria Redfern added 11 points, eight boards and four assists.

Niagara CCC 82, Lakeland CC 59

Redfern, who was named Classic MVP, had 29 points and a career-high 19 rebounds as the T-Wolves built up a 15-point halftime lead and never looked back. Parker chipped in with 18 points and seven boards, while Dickson was named to the All-Classic team after she contributed 11 points, 10 assists and five rebounds. Emborsky added 10 points and four rebounds in the win.
