Niagara County Community College continued its strong start to the 2018-19 season with a pair of wins at this past weekend's inaugural NCCC Tip-Off Classic. The Thunderwolves are now 4-0 and next visit nationally-ranked Onondaga Community College for a 5:30 p.m. tip on Wednesday.
Niagara CCC 91, Jackson College 63
Trailing 15-12 after the opening 10 minutes, NCCC out-scored the visitors 62-26 over the next two quarters. Sophomore Kenetria Redfern had a game-high 20 points, while classmate Shilah Parker filled the stat sheet, finishing with 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Freshman post Aubrey Halloran had a career-high 18 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks, classmate Paige Emborsky finished with 16 points and four steals and sophomore point guard Cori Dickson added 13 points and five assists.
Niagara CCC 128, Pitt-Titusville 49
The Thunderwolves scored 70 points in the opening half and finished with 37 assists as a team. Redfern led NCCC with 27 points and six boards on her way to Classic MVP honors. Parker, an All-Classic selection, finished with 24 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Emborsky had 18 points and nine helpers, freshman Molly Mahony added 18 points and seven rebounds and Halloran chipped in with 14 points and eight boards. Also for NCCC, Dickson had 10 assists and no turnovers.
