Thunderwolves get two road wins

Niagara County Community College went on the road and survived a couple of tough tests against Region III Division III contenders this past weekend. NCCC, which is ranked No. 8 in the latest NJCAA Division II poll, is now 17-0 overall heading into a showdown with Division III No. 6 Mohawk Valley Community College. Tip-off is at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Sophomores Aubrey Halloran and Cierra Harrison each had 15 points as the Thunderwolves overcame a poor shooting performance and major foul trouble. Halloran added eight rebounds, while Harrison had five boards and four steals. Freshman guard Alaina Forbes scored 11 points off the bench, while sophomore point guard Nickelle O'Neil stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Sophomore guard Paige Emborsky canned eight 3-pointers on her way to 24 points as the Thunderwolves held a 48-21 edge in the middle two quarters. Halloran had 15 points for the second straight day, while Harrison had a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Forbes scored 14 off the bench and sophomore forward Molly Mahony added 11 points and eight boards.
