NCCC pulls away from Hawks

After a slow start, Niagara County Community College knocked off upstart Mohawk Valley Community College 90-64 in Region III action on Tuesday afternoon. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 8 in the latest NJCAA Div. II poll, are now 18-0 overall on the year.

Sophomore post Aubrey Halloran had 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Thunderwolves, who scored 76 points over the final three quarters. Classmate Cierra Harrison added 18 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, while sophomore Paige Emborsky finished with 17 points and four steals. Also for NCCC, freshman Alaina Forbes had 13 points off the bench and sophomore Molly Mahony chipped in with 10 points and seven boards.

Next up for the T-Wolves is the annual Monroe College MLK Classic. NCCC plays the host Mustangs at 6 p.m. Saturday and Union County Community College at Noon Sunday.
