Keller, Eckles take 1st at McMullen Open

Freshmen Freddy Eckles and Troy Keller earned titles at this past weekend's Ben McMullen Open hosted by Muskegon CC. Eckles avenged a loss in Friday's dual meet on his way to the championship at 133 pounds, while Keller took first at 165 pounds with a 15-0 technical-fall victory.

Classmates Zach Burke (125) and E.J. Sampo (197) finished second in their weight classes with narrow 6-4 and 12-8 losses respectively. Eugene Latson (184) was third, while Jaelan Jean (165) and Chibueze Onwuka (285) came in fourth. Onwuka finished 6-2 on the day after avenging a pair of early losses.

Placing at this event for NCCC were: T.J. Cistrunk (184, 3rd), Dave Hernandez (197, 2nd) and Jed Middleton (285, 2nd).
