NCCC wins 20th regional title

Niagara County Community College earned its 20th regional title at this past weekend's Region III/Northeast District I Championships hosted by Mercyhurst North East. The Thunderwolves had four individual champions and qualified nine wrestlers for the NJCAA Tournament later this month in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In addition, head coach Keith Maute was honored as Coach of the Year by his peers.

Freshman Freddy Eckles (133), sophomore Cody McGregor (157), freshman Troy Keller (165) and freshman Jed Middleton (285) were crowned champions. Alex Salvaggio (141), Ryan Sebesta (174), Alex Kelly (184) and E.J. Sampo (197) were runners-up. Joshua Grisewood (125) and Kaydon Newton (149) were third. 

NCCC finished with 157 points, followed by Nassau CC with 146.5.
