NCCC wins region, 2nd in district; Keller MOW

Niagara County Community College qualified all 10 wrestlers for the upcoming NJCAA Championships on its way to a 21st Region III title and a runner-up finish in the Northeast District I Championships this past weekend. Host school Nassau Community College took first. 

Meanwhile, NCCC sophomore Troy Keller continued to dominate, taking first at 165 pounds. The returning NJCAA All-American was honored as the District's Most Outstanding Wrestler following a 16-0 technical-fall victory over a ranked opponent in the finals. 

Other place finishers for NCCC, all of whom will wrestler in Council Bluffs, Iowa later this month, include: Matt Genau (125, 2nd), C.J. Walz (133, 2nd), Jacob Bell (141, 2nd), John Riena (149, 3rd), Jaelen Jean (157, 3rd), Adam Mateo (174, 4th), Sergio Crespo (184, 2nd), Eugene Latson III (197, 4th) and David Carnie (285, 2nd).
