NCCC knocks off Mercyhurst JV

Freshman Katrell Jackson moved up a weight class and overcame an early deficit as Niagara County Community College knocked off Mercyhurst University JV, 30-18 this past Friday. Jackson trailed 6-0 just seconds into his 157-pound match before mounting a strong comeback to win 11-6.

Winners via pinfall for NCCC, which improved to 10-5 in dual meets, included sophomores C.J. Walz (133), Freddy Eckles (149) and Michael Phelps (165). Classmate Sergio Crespo won a 13-5 decision at 184 pounds for the T-Wolves.

The Thunderwolves are now off until the annual Region III/Northeast District I Championships, which are slated for Sun. Feb. 17 at NCCC.
