NCCC tops Saints

Niagara County Community College had several wrestlers move weight classes as it gutted out a 28-20 Western New York Athletic Conference win over host Mercyhurst North East in a battle of nationally-ranked teams on Wednesday night. 

Freshman Frankie Gissendaner improved to 6-0 on the year with a pin at 149 pounds. Other NCCC grapplers, who won via pinfall were: freshman Christian Robinson (157) and sophomore Adam Mateo (184).

Sophomore Jordan Bushey moved to 5-0 with a decision at 197 pounds, freshman Josh Thibeault picked up a 10-2 major decision at 174 pounds and sophomore Jacob Bell earned a hard-fought 8-2 decision at 125 pounds. 

The Thunderwolves return to the mats on Friday for the annual Muskegon Community College Duals. That's followed by the Ben McMullen Open on Saturday.
