NCCC beaten by Red Barons

Niagara County Community College surrendered six unanswered goals en route to a 7-1 Region III loss to visiting Corning CC on Wednesday afternoon. The Thunderwolves fall to 1-14 overall and 1-11 in regional play.

Sophomore Kara Sheldon netted her first goal of the season off a feed from classmate Alexa Caputo in the 18th minute of the opening half to tie the game at 1. The Red Barons, though, would score three quick goals to take a 4-1 lead at intermission.

Flanked by a strong defense, second-year goalkeeper Courtney Kaczor attempted to keep the game close with 14 saves. She now has 111 stops on the season.

NCCC wraps up its season at 1 p.m. Saturday when it travels to Jefferson CC.
