NCCC starts fast, but can't finish vs. MVCC

Niagara County Community College scored first, but couldn't sustain the momentum as it dropped a 7-1 Region III decision to visiting Mohawk Valley Community College on Sunday afternoon. The Thunderwolves are now 0-1 on the young season.

NCCC sophomore Cristina Catalano hammered home a pass from classmate Emily Dumond less than four minutes into the season opener. The Hawks, though, responded with five goals before halftime and never looked back.

Freshmen Marguerite Loughery and Bridget Masiello split time in net, combining for 12 saves in defeat. The T-Wolves were out-shot 25-11.

Next up for NCCC is a regional road tilt at SUNY Broome. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday.
