NCCC sweeps past Cougars

Niagara County Community College earned a three-set sweep of visiting Genesee CC in Western New York Athletic Conference action Thursday night. The scores were 25-19, 27-25 and 26-24 in favor of the host Thunderwolves, who improved to 6-11 on the year.
Freshman Jenna Faulkner ripped off six consecutive service points to help NCCC overcome a 24-20 deficit in the third and final set. Faulkner also had nine kills.
Freshman Lauren Wills added seven kills and 14 digs, while classmate Emma Okoniewski had eight kills and fellow first-year player Leanne Lettow finished with 26 assists. Sophomore Kelsi Palistrant chipped in with six kills and 10 digs.
Next up for NCCC is its final Region III pod matches on the season, set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Onondaga CC.
