NCCC tops TC Panthers at Jamestown pod

Niagara County Community College knocked off Tompkins-Cortland Community College to finish 1-2 at this past weekend's Region III pod play hosted by Jamestown Community College. The Thunderwolves are now 3-13 on the season and won't return to the court until Oct. 14 when they visit Cayuga Community College for another trio of regional tilts.

SUNY Broome 25-25-25, Niagara CCC 14-12-5

Sophomore Maddy Finn racked up 16 digs in the straight-set loss. Freshman Jessica Cruz-Jackson finished with four kills and eight digs in defeat.

Corning CC 25-25-25, Niagara CCC 23-20-15

Freshman McKenna Collignon had a solid all-around effort with 10 digs, nine assists and three aces, but N-Trip lost in three close sets. Also for NCCC, Finn had 17 digs and sophomores Christine Domon and Sha'Vonne Rzepa split eight kills.

Niagara CCC 25-16-25-25, Tompkins-Cortland CC 20-25-20-16

Collignon had another strong outing with 28 assists, 10 digs and four aces as the T-Wolves won in four sets. Finn accumulated 23 digs, Cruz-Jackson notched nine kills and seven digs and freshman Jessi Wood added eight kills.
