Thunderwolves notch first win at home pod

Host Niagara County Community College won its first match of the season during this past weekend's Region III pod action. The Thunderwolves are now 1-4 on the year with a big home Wwestern New York Athletic Conference matchup against Monroe Community College scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Herkimer College 25-28-25, Niagara CCC 18-26-14

Sophomore Maddie Phillips had 10 kills and 12 digs to lead the T-Wolves, who fell in straight sets. Classmate McKenna Collignon recorded 28 assists and fellow second-year player Jessica Cruz-Jackson finished with nine kills and nine digs.

Niagara CCC 25-25-25, Fulton-Montgomery CC 19-21-15

Freshman Samantha Chilcott had 18 digs as NCCC won for the first time this season. Collignon, meanwhile, had 28 assists for the second consecutive match. Phillips and sophomore Jessi Wood each put down nine kills.

Mohawk Valley CC 25-25-23-22-15, Niagara CCC 23-10-25-25-13

Despite a career-high 15 kills from Cruz-Jackson, the Thunderwolves fell in five close sets. Wood added 12 kills and Collignon had 33 assists.
