Volleyball drops season-opening matches

Niagara County Community College opened its season with a pair of Region III losses in pod action hosted by Erie Community College this past Saturday. The Thunderwolves fall to 0-2 with their home opener slated for 6 p.m. Thursday vs. Monroe Community College.

"Tough losses, but hopefully a learning experience for our roster of eight freshmen," veteran NCCC head coach Lindsay Matikosh said.

Jefferson CC 25-25-25, Niagara CCC 6-6-15

Freshman Camri King had eight kills and four service aces in the straight-set defeat. Freshman Maggie Monachino notched 13 assists, freshman Lilah Frerichs had four kills and classmate Hanna Roberts added five digs.

Fulton-Montgomery CC 25-25-25, Niagara CCC 12-9-15

King again led the T-Wolves with six kills and four assists. Also for N-Trip, Frerichs finished with three kills and three total blocks, Monachino had eight assists and Roberts added five more digs.
