NCCC knocks off host Hawks

Niagara County Community College earned its first Region III win of the season at this past weekend's pod hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College. The Thunderwolves improved to 2-16 overall and 1-13 in regional play. N-Trip wraps up the season at 11 a.m. Saturday with the annual Western New York Athletic Conference Tournament at Jamestown Community College. 

Niagara CCC 25-25-25, Mohawk Valley CC 16-11-15

The T-Wolves recorded a season-high 37 service aces on their way to the three-game sweep. NCCC freshmen Ashanti Thomas and Juliana Levesque had four kills and eight aces apiece, while classmate Maggie Monachino added 16 assists and five aces. Also for N-Trip, freshman Courtney Gregoretti recorded four kills and seven aces.

Herkimer College 25-25-25, Niagara CCC 23-21-15

Monachino finished with 10 assists and three aces, but it wasn't enough as NCCC narrowly lost in three games. The freshman duo of Lilah Frerichs and Allison Farley split six kills. Frerichs also had three blocks.
