Lakers Drop Game One in NJCAA Region III Final Four Tournament

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Baseball team kicked off the NJCAA Region III Final Four Tournament on Friday against the Niagara County Community College (NCCC) Thunderwolves. The Lakers lost 14-6 in seven innings.

The Lakers came into the tournament as the third seed with a 23-15 record. They faced the second seed, NCCC.

It was an exciting first two innings for the Lakers. They started out scoring two runs in both the first and second innings. The Thunderwolves were right behind them scoring three runs in both the first and second innings as well. It looked like it would be a battle of the bats. In the fourth inning the Lakers got one more run in, but the Thunderwolves kept coming back stronger. They scored three more runs in the fourth and started to gain a bigger lead.

The Lakers could only get one more run on the board in the sixth inning. The Thunderwolves sealed their win with a home run in the seventh inning, finishing the game early. The Lakers dropped their first game of a double elimination tournament, 14-6.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Zach Harter who went 2-2 with one home run, one RBI, and scored three runs, Lukas Haefner who went 2-2 with two RBI's and Tanner Frank who started on the mound with four strikeouts.
