SANBORN - The Jamestown Community College softball ended their season on Sunday, dropping a pair of games to Niagara County Community College.

Game 1: Jamestown Community College 6 - Niagara County Community College 7

Trailing by one after two innings, the Jayhawks (4-18, 4-18 Region 3 West) got on the board in the third inning as freshman third base Emily Horth (Little Valley, NY/Cattaraugus-Little Valley HS) hit an rbi single to push across a run.

The Thunderwolves took the lead over in the fourth, scoring a pair of runs to take the 3-1 lead. NCCC pushed their lead to six in the fifth inning, tacking on four more runs to make it a 7-1 ball game.

Despite the six-run deficit, the Jayhawks battled back to put a score in the Thunderwolves. In the sixth, JCC found their offense, putting up four runs on the bats of freshman shortstop Brynn Pagett (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS), center fielder Kara Leeper (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS), and first base Abbi Warner (Westfield, NY/Westfield HS) to put the score at 7-5.

The Jayhawks rally fell short in the seventh as they mustard one run.

Pagett had a career-day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three rbis. Warner also had a good game at the plate, going 3-for-4.

Freshman Samantha Heppel (Angola, NY/Lakeshore Sr. HS) earned the loss in the circle, giving up three earned runs while striking out six batters.

Game 2: Jamestown Community College 5 - Niagara County Community College 13

Looking to build on the momentum from the first game, the Jayhawks fell in a quick 3-0 hole after two innings.

Trying to find some offense, JCC did just that in the top of the third. Cather Gracie Wood (Warren, PA/Warren Area HS) drove in three runs off a triple and Heppel added another with a single as the Jayhawks took the 4-3 lead.

NCCC took over after that, outsourcing the Jayhawks 8-1 to secure the victory.

Wood led the offensive charge at the plate, going 3-for4 with a triple and three rbis. Warner continued to be consistent at the plate, going 3-for-4.

Hepple earned the loss in the circle, giving up four earned runs and striking out three batters. Pagett came into relief for two innings to close out the game.
