SANBORN - Facing the No. 13 team in the country, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team fell to Niagara County Community College, 100-76, in region action.

The Jayhawks (2-17, 0-2 Region 3) were led by guard Josiah Ransom (Orange Park, FL/Helena HS) with his first collegiate double-double, scoring 13 points while grabbing 10 boards (1 offense, 9 defense) while guard Elgin Oliver (Monroeville, PA/Gateway Senior HS) scored a game-high 25 points while going 10-for-14 (71.4percent) from the field and 5-for-6 (83.3 percent) from the free throw line. Guard Brian Fajardo (Bronx, NY/Aeci Charter HS) added 10 points in the effort.

Just because the Thunderwolves are ranked in the country, didn't mean that JCC wasn't going to give them a fight. Starting his night, Ransom knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to give the Jayhawks an early 6-3 lead. NCCC battled back and took their first lead of the game at the 13:49 mark with a three-pointer from Allen Fordham to make it 13-10. The Thunderwolves used that to score 13 unanswered to go up 21-10 with under 10 minutes until halftime.

Trailing 51-29 at the half, JCC kept battling and didn't go away, scoring 47 second half points. To start the second half, JCC went on a 12-6 run to make it 57-41. During the run, Oliver scored eight to fuel the fire.

NCCC did get a get a lead of 17 points but the Jayhawks cut the deficit to 13 points as Farajdo found forward Gonzalo Luque (Madrid, Spain/Instituto Ortega y Gasset) for an emphatic dunk followed up by a made basket from forward Traden Gray (Frewsburg, NY/Frewsburg HS).

The Jayhawks went 31-for-63 (49.2 percent) from the floor while the Thunderwolves went 38-for-77 (49.4 percent) from the floor. NCCC held the advantage on the boards, grabbing 42 rebounds to JCC's 34 rebounds.

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Saturday, January 29th, as they travel to Monroe Community College for a 3 p.m. tip.
