Lakers struggle to find shot in Loss

SANBORN, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball suffered a tough loss to the Thunderwolves of Niagara County Community College Wedneday night. The Lakers struggled in their Region III matchup with the Thunderwolves, seeing them fall 102-57. 

Freshman Devon Payton (Rochester, N.Y./ Gates Chili) led the way for the Lakers on offense, pouring in 15 points and dishing out 2 assists. Freshman CJ James (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) was the Lakers next leading contributor, adding 9 points, 7 rebounds, while swatting 1 shot on the night. 

Lakers leading scorer Jevonte Williams (Rochester, N.Y./ Rush Henrietta) added 8 points on offense, while setting up his teammates for a game-high 3 assists. Williams pulled down 2 rebounds and blocked 1 shot on the night as well. Sophomore Ben Waterman (Savannah, N.Y.) added 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal on the night. 

Freshman Justin Smith Jr. (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) led the Lakers in rebounding, pulling down 8 on the night. Smith logged a point and an assist apiece while blocking 1 shot and grabbing a steal. Coming off the bench Freshman Jaisan Parker (Durham, N.C./ Bull City Prep) scored 5 points while pulling in 2 steals on the defensive end, teammate Danny Amador (Naples, F.L./ Palmetto Ridge) added 4 points while pulling down 1 rebound and logging a steal.

The Lakers conclude the first-half of their regular season schedule at 7-7. The Lakers await the next matchup in the New Year, when the Hornets of SUNY Broome Community College come to campus in a Region III, Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup on January 6th in FLCC's Putt Moore Gymnasium.
