Lakers Comeback Attempt Thwarted

SANBORN, N.Y. – In a hard-fought battle against the Thunderwolves of Niagara County Community College, the Lakers fell 4-3 Wednesday night. The loss drops the Lakers record to 6-4-1 on the season with 5 games remaining on the regular season schedule.

The Lakers struck first in the match, Freshman Halee Passarell (Holley, N.Y./ Holley) fed teammate Grace Hall (Honeoye, N.Y./ Honeoye) for the first score of the game, to put the Lakers up 1-0.

The Thunderwolves went on to score three straight goals through the first and second half, leading 3-1 part way through the second half.

The Lakers never gave up in the hard-fought match. Freshman Morgan Collazo (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) chipped in a goal, cutting the lead to 3-2 in the 63'. The Lakers comeback seemed hopefully, as the team struck again in the 67' when Freshman Grace Hall chipped in the goal, tying the game.

The Thunderwolves struck back and scored the game winning goal late in the contest for the decisive 4-3 finish. Despite the loss, the Lakers build on a slew of impressive performances as of late.

The team look to get back on track when they take on SUNY ESF Sunday, Oct. 10th in a 10 A.M. contest.
