A five-run sixth inning gave the Erie Community College (5-7/1-3 Region 3) baseball team a 6-3 win over Niagara County Community College in the opening game of a doubleheader played today at Erie. Niagara rebounded to take game two, 7-3.
Tyler Wilson's pinch hit single to right plated two runs and gave the Kats a 4-3 lead in the opener. Isaiah Salas and Greg Hare each had two hits in the game and Arlain Sesin added a solo home run in the fifth inning. Left handed pitcher Mike Hartman went six innings on the mound for Erie. He allowed three runs on five hits to get his second win of the year. He struck out six. Salas came in to pitch the final inning to pick up his third save of the year.
Erie led 2-1 through four innings of the nightcap but Niagara plated four runs in the fifth inning to take a lead it would not relinquish.
Hare hit his fifth home run of the season in the game.
Erie returns to action Wednesday, April 7 when it visits Cayuga Community College for pair of non-region contests.
