JAMESTOWN - Looking to keep their postseason hopes alive, the Jamestown Community College baseball team would have to find a way to get past Niagara County Community College Sunday afternoon.

Game 1: Jamestown Community College 6 - Niagara County Community College 12

Looking to cut into a 3-0 deficit, the Jayhawks (9-16, 7-11 Region 3 West) did just that with one swing of the bat as right fielder Wyatt Hennessy (Mukwonago, WI/Mukwonago HS) hit one down the right field line and cleared the fence.

JCC tied the game in the second as left fielder Josh Lupo (Stafford, VA/Brooke Point HS) hit an rbi double to center field, driving in third baseman Roberto Aracena (Miami. FL/Citi Christian Academy). Redshirt-first baseman Yordangel Gonzalez (Miami, FL/Miami Jackson Senior HS) drove in the tying run, hitting a double to center field, bringing home Lupo.

The Jayhawks took the lead in the third inning as designated hitter Nick Rini (Powhatan, VA/Knock HS) hit a two-run blast to right center field, bringin in shortstop Ethan Abegg (Commerce City, CO/Prarie View HS) from first.

Coming in to play first base, Chris Calladine (Andover, NY/Andover Centers Look School) hit  a single towards second, bringing in Aracena to take a 6-3 lead.

The Thunderwolves tied the game in the fifth, scoring three runs. Later in the game, NCCC took a six-run lead in the seventh to secure the win.

Aracena had a great day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double while Rini and Hennessy each had two hits.

Sophomore pitcher Adonis Collado (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy HS) earned the loss on the mound, going 6.2 innings, giving up nine earned runs while striking out five batters. Calladine came in to close the game out.

Game 2: Jamestown Community College 7 - Niagara County Community College 16

Falling in a 3-0 hole, the Jayhawks slowly climbed their way out with three runs scored in the second inning. Aracena got the scoring going first, scoring on a balk from the Thunderwolves pitcher. Catcher Lucas Porpiglia (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk HS) hit  asac fly to right field, bringing in Lupo.

Trailing 5-2 in the third, the Jayhawks kept the game within reach, scoring another pair of runs. Aracena hit a line drive to right field, bringing in pitcher Billy Harmon (Racine, OH/Southern Local) from second base. Porpiglia drove in the next run, hitting a ground ball to second, bringing in Lupo.

In the fourth inning, the Jayhawks trailed 8-4 before Aracena hit a two-run single to center field to bring in second baseman German Nolasco (Spring Hill, FL/Weeki Wachee HS) and Abegg. Calladine came in to make it an 8-7 game off an error from NCCC.

The Jayhawks battled back but the thunderwolves scored eight unanswered to put the game out of reach.

Aracena had another solid game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three rbis with Lupo also going 2-for-3.

Harmon earned the loss on the mound, giving up five earned runs in three innings of action. The Jayhawks used a committee of arms to go the rest of the way on the mound.
