NIAGARA FALLS – Traveling north to take on the No. 5 Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves, the Jamestown Community College baseball team dropped the pair of road games Saturday afternoon.
Game 1: No. 5 Niagara County Community College 14 – Jamestown Community College 3
The Jayhawks (11-18, 10-14 Region 3 West) took the first swing and connected in the first inning as first baseman Yordangel Gonzalez (Miami, FL/Miami Jackson Senior HS) drove in shortstop Nate Johnson (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern High) as he hit a double to go up 1-0. The Thunderwolves responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the first. NCCC extended their lead in the second, scoring nine runs.
Gonzalez went 2-for-3 at the plate with both hits going for doubles while adding a pair of RBIs. Johnson and center fielder Ayden Reagle (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove HS) each had a hit apiece.
Pitcher Billy Harmon (Racine, OH/Southern Local) earned the loss on the mound, surrendering 13 runs on nine hits in two innings of action. Alex Kemery (Youngsville, PA/Youngsville HS) also saw two innings of work, giving up one run on one hit and striking out two batters.
Game 2: No. 5 Niagara County Community College 23 – Jamestown Community College 0
Looking to generate offense, the Jayhawks were able to find two hits courtesy of left fielder Wyatt Hennessy (Mukwonago, WI/Mukwonago HS) who hit a double and Harmon reaching on a base hit.
Pitcher Zach Rohlin (Russell, PA/Eisenhower HS) earned the loss on the bump, giving up 11 runs on nine hits while striking out three batters in three innings of action. Walt Rybczynski (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis HS) went the rest of the way for the Jayhawks, giving up nine hits.
The Jayhawks will be back in action tomorrow, May 8th, as they host No. 5 Niagara County Community College for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
