Monroe Falls Twice in WNYAC POD

BUFFALO, NY - Monroe Community College Volleyball Program lost both matches in this past WNYAC POD to SUNY Niagara and Erie Community College. Both teams swept the Tribunes 3-0.

Game 1: SUNY Niagara

Monroe Community College faced off against SUNY Niagara in a hard-fought WYNAC match at ECC. Despite showing early signs of a fight, particularly in the first set, Monroe was unable to capitalize on opportunities to shift momentum, falling to SUNY Niagara in three straight sets with scores of 23-25, 17-25, and 17-25.

Monroe's attack struggled to find consistency, hitting at a low .013 team hitting percentage. Leading the offense was once again Madalyn Robinson (Attica, NY), who contributed 7 kills but also had 5 errors on 29 attempts. Jenna Tracy (Hilton, NY) was another contributor with 5 kills and 3 errors on 14 swings for a .143 hitting percentage. On the defensive side, Kylee Storch (Williamsville, NY) led the team with 8 digs, while Sydney Martin (Chittenango, NY) contributed 5 assists and 5 digs. Serving was a bright spot for Monroe, as they recorded 11 aces, with Storch tallying 6 and Tracy adding 3.

Game 2: Erie CC 

In the second match, the Tribunes once again fell short against, this time to SUNY Niagara, losing in straight sets (16-25, 19-25, 22-25). 

Robinson again led the MCC offense with 7 kills, but her hitting percentage of .069 reflected the overall difficulties Monroe faced in getting past Niagara's strong defense. Tracy added 5 kills, while Elana Barrett (Langsville, OH) had an efficient match, hitting .500 with 2 kills on 4 attempts. Storch had another standout serving performance with 6 aces, contributing to Monroe's 11 total aces in the match.

The Tribunes will look to bounce back in their next POD on Saturday, September 28th in Canandaigua.
