Four players were in double figures as Niagara County Community College knocked off seventh-seeded Macomb (Mich.) Community College, 78-67, in the opening round of the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday in Danville, Ill.
NCCC (25-5), which is making its first National Tournament appearance since 1979, will take on No. 2 South Suburban (Ill.) College in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Freshman guard LaTerrance Reed led the Thunderwolves with 12 points off the bench. Sophomore forward Fausto Pichardo and freshman wing Donel Cathcart netted 11 points each, while freshman point guard Randy Corporan had 10 points and five assists.
