Bio

Beutel, the college's Sports Information Director, Athletic Scheduling Coordinator and Head Women's Basketball Coach, is entering his ninth season as leader of the softball program.

In 2018, NCCC finished 13-7 in regional competition and earned a second consecutive postseason berth. In 2017, the Thunderwolves finished 10-6 in regional play and were rewarded with their first playoff appearance since 2013 and highest-ever regional seed (No. 6), according to athletic-department records on file.

Under Beutel's watch, sophomore infielder Kelsi Palistrant was a 2017 Region III, Div. III first-team selection following a vote of regional coaches. Palistrant became the first NCCC player to earn first-team honors since Wendy Schutz-Thompson (2001). The two-year captain and two-time team MVP concluded her career with 90 hits, 16 home runs, 74 RBIs and 63 runs scored. She was also the school's President's Cup winner as its top sophomore student-athlete. Sophomore outfielder Ana Bryer was a second team All-Region choice in 2018 after leading NJCAA Division III with 48 stolen bases. In 2019, freshman infielder Alisha Scroger set a new program mark for single-season hits (58) and runs scored (51) on her way to second team All-Region honors.

In the last five years, more than a half dozen Thunderwolves have also moved on to play at a four-year school.

Beutel, a Sanborn native and former three-sport standout at Starpoint High School, previously coached baseball at his alma mater. He earned a bachelor's degree in sport management and a master's degree in elementary education from Medaille College. He currently resides with his wife Annmarie and son Baker in North Tonawanda.
