Niagara County Community College dropped three close sets to visiting Genesee Community College in Western New York Athletic Conference action on Tuesday night. The scores were 25-22, 25-20, 25-20 in favor of the Cougars. NCCC fell to 4-16 on the year, but played one of its best matches of the season, according to head coach Lindsay Matikosh.
The match also served as the centerpiece to a Breast Cancer Awareness event, which raised over $100 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The gym was decorated throughout, while players, coaches, officials, staff and fans all wore pink in support of the cause.
"We had a great turnout for a good cause," Matikosh said. "I hope to make this an annual event going forward."
