The Erie men's basketball team battled with the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves on Wednesday, defeating their crosstown rivals 98-94. The Kats found themselves in a hole early in the game when they could not control the fast paced Thunderwolves who started the game by building a 19-7 advantage in the first ten minutes. They would then take a 41-33 lead into the half.
Erie would slowly start to chip away at the deficit to begin the second half but the Wolves held strong and kept the Kats from taking the lead until just over eight minutes to play. It was then Erie who kept the pressure on to complete the comeback.
The Kats had three players in double digits with sophomore Hugo Silva leading the way with 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists. A'Mag Tate and Waseem Ajeigbe each had 17.
Erie is now 12-8 on the season and will be home on Saturday, February 10th as they host Jamestown Community College.
