Lady Cannoneers Hold on to Win Game 2 Against Niagara

The Cannoneers host the Thunderwolves in a doubleheader with huge seeding implications for the season.  Rachael Shackleton took the ball in game 1 and tossed a great outing. In a game that went to extra innings, Shackleton tossed a complete game (8 IP) allowing just 2 ER in the effort.  Offense was hard to come by for both teams all day.  Jefferson was only able to muster up 4 hits in the game and scored only 2 runs.  Shackleton and Torie Moore drove in the only RBIs for the Cannoneers.  Jefferson got the tying run in scoring position in the bottom of the 8th, however, would drop game 1, 3-2.

Game 2 was another fantastic defensive and pitching display.  Rachael Shackleton drove in another RBI and Hailey McGrew with a big sac fly drove in the second of 2 Cannoneer runs for the game.  Emily Birmingham was dominant in the circle.  Birmingham allowed just 1 run (0 ER), struck out 7 hitters and gave up just one hit in the 4th inning.  Emily's continued hot stretch of pitching propelled the Cannoneers to big series split as they win the second game of the doubleheader, 2-1
