Eastfield Rolls Past Niagra County in World Series

GREENEVILLE, Tennessee – Dallas College Eastfield cruised to a 10-1 win in seven innings over Niagra County Community College Monday in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III World Series.

Eastfield (47-11) advances to play Rowan College South Jersey-Gloucester (51-5)  in Tuesday's semifinals at 4:30 p.m. CT.

Cade Conway cranked a pair of two-run home runs, and Jayden Morgan had another as the Harvester Bees outhit the Thunderwolves, 15-5.

Cody Ausmus went the distance for Eastfield to improve to 8-1 on the mound. He allowed one run on five hits and two walks, while fanning six. The Bees knocked out Niagra County starter Brendan Morse (6-1) in the second inning after he surrendered four runs on five hits and a walk in an inning and two-thirds.

The Harvester Bees (47-11) scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take an 8-1 lead. Kyson Snelson had an RBI single to left, Conway belted his second two-run homer to right, and River Curs singled to right to drive in a run.

Morgan's two-run home run in the sixth extended the Harvesters' lead to nine.

Conway was 3-for-4 with four RBI. Morgan went 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Eastfield took the lead in the first on Gus Witt's RBI triple to right and Angel Rodriguez's sacrifice fly to right. That put the Harvester Bees up 2-1. They extended their lead to 4-1 in the second in the second on Conway's first two-run shot to right.

Niagra County (43-6) scored the game's first run in the top of the first when Andrew Stillinger had an RBI single to center.

Witt had a double and his run-scoring triple in four plate appearances. Snelson was 3-for-3 with an RBI. Griffin Tarter went 2-for-2 with a double and a walk.

After the first inning, Ausmus didn't allow the Thunderwolves multiple hits in any inning. He has earned the victory in his last five starts.
