The Hudson Valley women's volleyball program traveled to Buffalo, NY to compete in the Erie Community College pod tournament on Sunday and finished with a 1-2 record, earning its first match win of the season.

Hudson Valley 3, Niagara 1

In the four-set match, the Vikings had to overcome the 1-0 set deficit and won three consecutive sets to claim its first match of the season.

As a team, the Vikings combined for 36 total kills, 37 assists, 29 digs and 11 service aces over the course of the four-set match. Individually, Jasyn Addison and Alyssa Bruno each tallied eight kills, while Bruno added three blocks and five digs. Addison totaled three digs and two service aces. Skyler Kennedy had a big match setting up her teammates as she assisted on 23 points and added three service aces. Adrianna Diaz-Rolon finished with a team-high 12 digs in the opening match of the day.

Erie 3, Hudson Valley 0

The Vikings later went up against two strong programs that are expected to compete for a Region 3 championship, including host Erie.

As a team the Vikings finished with six kills, 14 digs and only two service aces, a big discrepancy from the Vikings opening day win over Niagara. Offensively, Alyssa Bruno finished with two kills and Addison kept plays alive with a team-best six digs.

Jamestown 3, Hudson Valley 0

Jamestown is another tough program as the Vikings continued to show a strong sense of competitive fight in each match they play. The Vikings were led by Tatianah Zeigler with four kills and four digs.

Upcoming Schedule

The Vikings return home on Wednesday, Sept. 21 for Senior Night as they welcome the reigning Mountain Valley Conference champions, Fulton-Montgomery to the McDonough Sports Complex for a 6 p.m. start.
