Baseball advances to Region III Final Four

Niagara County Community College swept visiting SUNY Adirondack in this past weekend's Region III Division III Sub-Regional series. NCCC, which is ranked No. 4 in the latest National poll, improved to 39-5 overall and will play in the Region III Division III Final Four on May 19-21 at Falcon Park in Auburn. 

Niagara CCC 13, SUNY Adirondack 0

NCCC sophomores Ryan Birchard and Michael Ribis combined on a five-inning no-hitter. Birchard, who improved to 6-0 on the year, struck out 10 batters in four innings of work. Sophomore catcher Nicholas Castellana was 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs to lead the offense. Classmate Conner Hoehman was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored, while sophomore Alex Minnehan went 3-for-3 scored three times. Also for N-Trip, freshman Steven Merkel and sophomore Howard Stuckey added two hits and two RBIs apiece. 

Niagara CCC 8, SUNY Adirondack 3

Sophomore Kyle Finn had nine Ks in 4.2 innings of relief for the T-Wolves. He improved to 5-1 on the season. At the plate, Castellana ripped a two-run home run, sophomore Mitchell Holtz had a two-run double and Minnehan chipped in with two hits and two runs scored.
