Niagara County Community College swept Ithaca College's JV team in a non-conference road doubleheader on Monday afternoon. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 4 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, improved to 21-3 on the season. N-Trip returns to the diamond at 1 p.m. Saturday for a big Region III series vs. rival Erie Community College. Saturday's twinbill will be played at Niagara Falls High School and broadcast by ESPN+.
Niagara CCC 9, Ithaca College JV 2
Freshman Riley Loomis was 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored in the win. Classmate Matthew Procopio added two hits and an RBI and sophomore Andrew Bench moved to 2-0 on the mound after striking out seven in five innings of work. Freshman Jacob Jones threw two innings of scoreless relief.
Niagara CCC 5, Ithaca College JV 4 (6 inn.)
Sophomore Owen Stevenson drove in the go-ahead runs in the top of the sixth inning. The game was called after six innings due to darkness. Stevenson finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Procopio again had two hits and an RBI and sophomore Mitchell Holtz scored twice.
