Niagara County Community College wrapped up the regular season with a pair of road Region III victories over Jamestown Community College on Tuesday afternoon. The No. 5 ranked Thunderwolves are now 37-5 overall and 23-3 in regional play. Next up is the Region III Div. III Sub-Regional best-of-three series. Game one is slated for 1 p.m. Saturday.
Niagara CCC 9, Jamestown CC 5
NCCC freshman Christopher Finocchario gave up just two hits and no earned runs and struck out nine in six innings of work. Freshman Matthew Procopio was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, sophomore Nicholas Castellana went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and classmate Conner Hoehman was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Niagara CCC 6, Jamestown CC 1
N-Trip freshman Brendan Morse improved to 6-0 after allowing just two hits and striking out eight batters in a complete-game effort. Sophomore Alex Minnehan was 3-for-3 with three runs and four stolen bases, Castellana went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and an RBI and Hoehman chipped in two RBIs.
