Baseball takes two close wins vs. OCC

Niagara County Community College won a pair of one-run Region III games against visiting Onondaga Community College on Tuesday afternoon. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 5 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, improved to 28-5 overall and 14-3 in Western divisional play. N-Trip returns to action at 2 p.m. Thursday for a home doubleheader vs. Tompkins-Cortland Community College.

Niagara CCC 2, Onondaga CC 1

NCCC sophomore pitcher Ryan Birchard allowed just two hits and struck out 12 in five innings of work. Classmate Andrew Bench picked up a two-inning save. At the plate, sophomore Nicholas Castellana had two RBIs, freshman Riley Loomis was 2-for-3 and sophomore Alex Minnehan swiped two bags and scored once. 

Niagara CCC 4, Onondaga CC 3

Freshman Andrew Stillinger recorded a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh. He finished 2-for-3 with an RBI in the win. Classmates Matthew Procopio and Nicholas Schulz added two hits apiece and Minnehan scored twice. Sophomore Michael Ribis moved to 3-0 on the mound with 1.2 innings of hitless relief.
