T-Wolves split with rival Erie

SUNY Niagara split a Region III doubleheader with visiting Erie Community College on Monday afternoon at Sal Maglie Stadium. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 7 in the latest NJCAA Div. III poll, are now 25-7 overall and 9-1 in Region III Western Division play. The loss snapped a 15-game win streak for the T-Wolves, who have a quick turnaround with a doubleheader slated for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Genesee Community College. 

SUNY Niagara 11, Erie CC 1 (5 inn.)

Sophomore Andrew Damiani improved to 5-1 on the season as he allowed just two hits and struck out four in five innings of work. Freshman Gavyn Boyle ripped a two-run home run, sophomore Nicholas Schulz hit a pair of doubles with an RBI and two runs scored and sophomore Owen Silliman finished 3-for-3 including a triple and two runs scored. Also for the winners, sophomore Matthew Procopio scored three times and sophomore Brett Johnson was 1-for-2 with a double and scored twice. 

Erie CC 4, SUNY Niagara 0

The Kats broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the sixth inning. Freshman Braden Hill had the lone hit for SUNY Niagara, while sophomore Andrew Johnson took his first loss of the year despite allowing just two earned runs in six innings of work.
