NCCC nets 12 goals in win vs. Bengals

Niagara County Community College knocked off UNYCHL division rival Buffalo State College, 12-7, in a high-scoring affair at the Buff State Sports Arena on Saturday night. The Thunderwolves improved to 4-1 on the young season.

NCCC took a 4-1 lead after the first period with goals from Joey LoBrutto, Will Casullo, Blake Dewey and Jason Kuchey.

Buffalo State closed the gap early in the second stanza with Luke Stotz scoring twice off odd-man rushes. The Thunderwolves responded, though, with goals from Gavin Cerrillo and Noah Kurial to take a 6-4 lead into the second intermission.

The NCCC lead ballooned quickly in the third period with Anthony Miller, Matt Stewart and LoBrutto each lighting the lamp within 91 seconds of each other. Anthony Genau, Cerrillo and Dewey rounded out the scoring for the winners.

Brett Sardina had a hat trick in the third frame for the Bengals, while Phil Cerrillo earned his first divisional win in net for the T-Wolves.

N-Trip returns to the ice at 8:45 p.m. Mon. Oct. 24 at Hyde Park Ice Pavilion for its annual Breast Cancer Awareness game. The Thunderwolves will take on local rival University at Buffalo.
