NCCC hockey drops tight game to Cards

Niagara County Community College fell by a score of 7-5 to division rival St. John Fisher University in a rematch of last year's UNYCHL Championship this past Saturday night at the Hyde Park Ice Pavilion. NCCC dropped to 6-3 on the season.

Despite an early goal from Joey LoBrutto, the T-Wolves fell behind 3-1 at the first intermission as Antonio Femia, Jack Chapman and Kyle Lubey each scored for the Cardinals.

St. John Fisher's lead remained at two after the second period even with NCCC goals from Kevin Carle and Blake Dewey. Dewey's tally popped Fisher goaltender Joshua Trask's water bottle off the top of the net.

Devin Mulcahy of the Cardinals scored what would be the game winner early in the third period with a power-play tally. LoBrutto and Chuckie Schmidl brought NCCC within one before Femia added an empty-net goal to put the game away.

The final game of the opening semester is slated for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Hyde Park vs. UNYCHL Metro Division rival Erie Community College.
