NCCC wins regional links title

The Niagara County Community College golf team won its third consecutive Region III championship this past weekend at the Chautuaqua Golf Club. NCCC finished with a two-day total of 621 strokes, which was 53 shots clear of runner-up Jefferson Community College and the lowest team score among regional champions in at least a decade. The Thunderwolves, who have won all 11 tournaments they have participated in this spring, advance to the NJCAA Division III Tournament June 7-10 at Chautauqua Golf Club.

N-Trip freshman Sean Barrett fired a one-under-par 71 in the opening round to propel him to Region III medalist honors. He finished with a two-day total of 150 strokes. Sophomore Cameron Cswaykus won a tiebreaker to finish in second place with a 156. Other T-Wolves that earned All-Region honors included the freshman trio of Leo Camilloni (4th, 157), Matt Whelan (10th, 165) and Zac Golibersuch (12th, 166).

On the women's side, sophomore Kennedy Lang took second place overall with a 195. Her sister, freshman McCarthy Lang, joined her on the All-Region team after carding a 196.

Following the event, head coach Matthew Oleski was named Region III Coach of the Year.
