Niagara County Community College rolled past visiting Monroe Community College, 96-72, to earn its third consecutive Region III Division II championship on Sunday afternoon. The Thunderwolves, ranked No. 2 in the country, improved to 28-1 overall.
NCCC sophomore guard Lamar Lovelace netted a game-high 25 points on his way to tournament MVP honors. Classmate Allen Fordham had 18 points and sophomore point guard LaMarqus Merchant Jr. added 13 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
Merchant Jr. and freshman guard JaVaughn Jones were named to the All-Tournament team for the T-Wolves, who canned 11 3-pointers in the victory.
N-Trip advances to next Saturday's NJCAA Division II East District Championship hosted by SUNY Sullivan.
