Softball picks up 20th regional win

Niagara County Community College improved to 20-3 in Region III play following Saturday's road sweep of SUNY Broome at Binghamton University's Softball Complex. The Thunderwolves (24-13 overall) were rained out Sunday and return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday with a doubleheader at SUNY Adirondack.

Niagara CCC 14, SUNY Broome 6

Sophomore Mackenzie Gozdziak was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and four runs scored in the victory. Freshman Jessica Eagan went 4-for-4, sophomore Maggiemay Murrins added two hits and three RBIs and classmate Mariah Semple had a double, triple and two RBIs. Freshman right-hander Leah Bailey improved to 15-2 on the season.

Niagara CCC 11, SUNY Broome 5

Murrins went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and freshman Samantha Steindel contributed three RBIs for NCCC. Sophomore Shelby Wolf and Gozdziak each added two hits and two runs to the winning cause. Freshman righty Emma Rozborski allowed just four hits as she improved to 9-8 on the year.
