Thunderwolves drop close contests to Corning

Niagara County Community College dropped a pair of close Region III contests to nationally-ranked and visiting Corning Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Thunderwolves slipped to 8-12 overall and 4-2 in regional play. Next up is another home twinbill - 3 p.m. Tuesday vs. Genesee Community College.

Corning CC 14, Niagara CCC 11

NCCC allowed four runs in the seventh inning to let the win slip away. Sophomore Shelby Wolf homered and had four RBIs, classmate Mackenzie Gozdziak was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored and fellow second-year player Maggiemay Murrins added two RBIs.

Corning CC 9, Niagara CCC 4

Murrins had two hits and three RBIs in the setback. Sophomore Mariah Semple finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and sophomore Sydney Sexton had two base hits for the second consecutive game.
