Softball runs past Columbia-Greene CC

Niagara County Community College earned a pair of run-rule Region III victories over host Columbia-Greene Community College on Sunday afternoon. The Thunderwolves are now 14-13 overall and 10-3 in regional play. Next up is a twinbill at Onondaga Community College on Saturday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

Niagara CCC 12, Columbia-Greene CC 0 (5 inn.)

NCCC sophomore Mariah Semple was 3-for-3 with three runs scored, classmate Maggiemay Murrins homered and freshman Samantha Steindel ripped two doubles. Sophomore Shelby Wolf, freshman Jessica Eagan, Semple and Murrins each had two RBIs. Freshman pitcher Leah Bailey moved to 10-2 in the circle. 

Niagara CCC 16, Columbia-Greene CC 2 (5 inn.)

Semple finished 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBIs and four runs scored in the win. Wolf was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, sophomore Sydnie Luckman went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and both Steindel and Eagan chipped in two RBIs. Freshman pitcher Emma Rozborski recorded seven strikeouts.
