Niagara County Community College swept Western New York Athletic Conference rival Monroe Community College in a doubleheader played on Friday afternoon at Sweet Home High School. The Thunderwolves improved to 8-10 overall and 4-0 in Region III play. Next up is a home doubleheader vs. perennial power Corning Community College. First pitch is set for Noon Saturday.
Niagara CCC 15, Monroe CC 6 (6 inn.)
Freshman Samantha Steindel was 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored to lead a potent NCCC offense. Sophomore Shelby Wolf finished 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored, freshman Jessica Eagan ripped a grand slam and sophomore Mackenzie Gozdziak was 3-for-3 and scored three times.
Niagara CCC 10, Monroe CC 6
Sophomore Mariah Semple homered twice and had three RBIs as the T-Wolves stayed hot at the plate. Classmate Sydnie Luckman also ripped a home run and had three RBIs, while Eagan clubbed another home run and freshman pitcher Emma Rozborski recorded 10 strikeouts in the circle.
