T-Wolves fall in season opener

SUNY Niagara dropped its season-opening Region III doubleheader to visiting SUNY Broome on Sunday afternoon. The Thunderwolves are now 0-2 - both overall and in regional play. Next up is a home twinbill vs. Jefferson Community College. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. Saturday. 

SUNY Broome 11, SUNY Niagara 2 (5 inn.)

Freshman Camryn Smith walked three times and scored one of the Thunderwolves' two runs. Classmate Saige Friedl allowed just one earned run in five innings of work. Despite taking seven walks, SUNY Niagara did not record a hit and made five errors in the field.

SUNY Broome 19, SUNY Niagara 11 (6 inn.)

Smith was 3-for-3 with a pair of triples, four RBIs and three runs scored in the setback. SUNY Niagara racked up 12 hits, but squandered an 11-5 lead. Sophomore Alexis Glemb was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while classmate Alexis Ridley and freshman Julianna Miller added two hits and an RBI apiece.
