NCCC finishes 1-2 at ACM Personal Best Classic

Niagara County Community College finished 1-2 at this past weekend's Personal Best Classic hosted by Allegany College of Maryland. The Thunderwolves are now 2-2 overall on the young season with their conference opener set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday vs. Monroe Community College.

No. 3 CCBC Essex 83, Niagara CCC 53

Despite holding a 17-13 lead after the opening quarter, the Thunderwolves could not keep pace with the high-powered Knights. NCCC sophomore Ashley Tucker scored 12 points, while classmate Aichata Ballo added nine points and 13 rebounds. Also for N-Trip, which committed a season-high 35 turnovers, freshman Alita Carey-Santangelo and sophomore Jenna Granger each netted nine points.

Niagara CCC 81, Allegany College of Maryland 30

Sophomore Jenna Slader scored 17 points as the T-Wolves raced out a commanding 45-10 lead at intermission. Also for NCCC, Ballo stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals and sophomore Kamelija Ignatova came off the bench and contributed 10 points and six rebounds.

Garrett College 74, Niagara CCC 58

NCCC had extremely poor shooting splits as it fell to a strong Lakers squad. Ballo had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds and freshman Renee Ramoni added 11 points and five boards off the bench. Carey-Santangelo and Tucker scored nine apiece in the setback.
