NCCC opens season with win vs. Corning CC

Niagara County Community College had eight players in double figures as it topped visiting Corning Community College, 140-19, in its season opener on Sunday. The No. 15 Thunderwolves are now 1-0, while the Red Barons dropped to 0-2.

NCCC sophomore Kamelija Ignatova led the T-Wolves' attack with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. Classmate Jenna Slader canned five 3-pointers on her way to 20 points and sophomore point guard Aichata Ballo added 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Also for N-Trip, freshman Emily Delisle was 5-for-5 from the field on her way to a 13-point, five-rebound, five-assist and five-steal debut. Freshman Alita Carey-Santangelo had 12 points and seven boards, sophomore Jenna Granger netted 11 points and freshmen Faith Alessandra and Renee Ramoni finished with 10 points apiece.

Andrealis Colon scored 14 points to lead Corning CC.

NCCC returns to action at this weekend's three-day Personal Best Classic hosted by Allegany College of Maryland.
