Niagara County Community College surged out to a 28-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as it earned an 80-55 non-conference road win at No. 20 Lakeland Community College on Wednesday night.
The Thunderwolves improved to 5-2 overall, while the Lakers fell to 6-1.
NCCC sophomore Ashley Tucker had her best game of the young season as she notched a team-high 21 points and 12 rebounds. Classmate Jenna Slader canned six 3-pointers on her way to 20 points.
Also for N-Trip, freshman Alita Carey-Santangelo had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds and fellow frosh Faith Alessandra scored 10 points off the bench.
The T-Wolves held a large 54-30 edge in rebounding. Gianna Pegoraro had 15 points to lead LCC.
NCCC returns to the hardwood at 1:30 p.m. Saturday when it visits Hagerstown Community College.
